Palinka - Hungarian Folk Music
Palinka was an all-female band in London who were
brought together by their shared passion: Romanian, Gypsy,
Jewish, Saxon and Hungarian folk music from
the remote villages of Transylvania. They called
the band "PALINKA" after the most famous spirit in the region
(and their most favourite drink :)
All the band members have studied the music in various
villages throughout Transylvania, Hungary and Romania, to
be able to bring this beautiful music to you in London.
As all it's members came to London temporarily, the band
will sadly not be performing future gigs, as we will all
be going off on our separate adventures.
However... Hungarian dancing and music is still alive in
London and if you would like to learn Hungarian dancing
or get to know more about dances go to Hungarian
Folk Dance in London.
If you have not heard Hungarian Folk Music in London
yet, check the links on this page - the mixed
music of Hungarians, Romanians and Gypsies will captivate
you, especially once you've tasted the spirit of this region,
made of 100% fruit - The PALINKA!
We write a blog in Hungarian about our adventures in the
world of Hungarian Folk Music: Magyar
Népzene Blog.
